Dr. Runhe Huang received her B.Sc. in Electronics Technology from National University of Defense
Technology, China, in 1982, and her Ph.D. in Computer Science and Mathematics from the University of the
West of England, UK, in 1993. She worked at National University of Defense Technology during the period
1982-1988. In 1988, she received a Sino-Britain Friendship Scholarship for her Ph.D. study in U.K. She
worked in the University of Aizu, Japan, during 1993-1999. She has been working in Hosei University,
Japan, since 2000.
She has been working in the field of Computer Science and Engineering since 1982. Her research fields
include Artificial Intelligence and its Applications, Distributed Intelligence Computing, Web Data Ming and Service
Computing, Mobile Computing, Ubiquitous Intelligence Computing, and Cloud Computing, Hyper-world Modeling
and Intelligence.
She has been actively involving in academic society and is Editorial Board Member of International Journal of
High Performance Computing and Networking, Journal of Ubiquitous Computing and Intelligence (JUCI), Journal
of Autonomic and Trusted Computing (JoATC), Guest Editor of the Special Issue on New Advances and Challenges
in Web, Grid and P2P Computing, the Special Issue on Innovative Networked Information Systems and Services, the
Special Issue on Ubiquitous Computing and Mobile Computing.
She served as Co-Chair, IEEE CIS Task Force on Brain Informatics, set up in May 2009, Program Co-Chair in the International Conference on Active Media Technology (AMT 2012), Award Chair in the 2010 IEEE/ACM

When you are sitting in front of a computer and working for 3 or 4 hours, someone makes a cup of hot milk tea
for you, you must be very happy. Why? Someone knows you well, knows what you want right now. This is so called
“Smart”. There are many such cases happening in our daily life. It would make one happy if there would be a
smart environment provides what he wants in the right place, at the right time, so called empathetic services. The
convergence of state of the art information technology and dynamic intelligence computing makes it possible and
makes this happen. This talk will present three key stages in the data cycle system: acquiring and collecting data
with ubiquitous active IT technology; human centric data structuring and mining for knowledge discovery; and dynamic
intelligence for the fusion of discovered knowledge and existing knowledge. Finally, this talk will show four projects on
human centric awareness based active services in a smart ecohome system, in classroom effective teaching and learning
system, in a smart profitable cyber system, and in healthcare system. In particular, this talk will give a comprehensive
explanation of our research project on Human Individual Model based Empathetic U-pillbox System for Humanistic Geriatric Healthcare.
