报告摘要:
This talk will explore the use of Transformers in point cloud processing for various 3D vision tasks. How do Transformers cope with the irregularity and unordered nature of point clouds? How suitable are Transformers for different 3D representations (e.g., point- or voxel-based)? How competent are Transformers for various 3D processing tasks? This talk will address those questions and present a comprehensive overview of Transformers for point cloud classification, segmentation, and object detection. The talk starts by introducing the Transformer architecture, followed by presenting three different taxonomies, which can classify current Transformer-based methods from multiple perspectives. The comparison results of various Transformer-based methods for classification, segmentation, and object detection are presented and three potential research directions for the development of 3D Transformers are provided. At the end, the performance in use of the 3D Convolution-Transformer Network (3DCTN) for point cloud classification is demonstrated.
