摘要:
Industry 4.0 is the automation of traditional manufacturing and industrial processes through customized and flexible mass production. Cutting the communication cables in conventional factories will be a game-changer: for automatic control, Industry 4.0 will require large-scale, interconnected deployment of massive spatially distributed industrial devices such as sensors, actuators, robots, and controllers. With low-cost and scalable deployment capabilities, wireless networked control will play a key role in many industrial applications, such as smart manufacturing, industrial automation systems, e-commerce warehouses, and smart grids.
Building a large-scale wireless networked control system (WNCS) for Industry 4.0 faces many significant technical challenges. This is due to limited spectrum and power, strong randomness and uncertainty of wireless channels caused by time-varying channel gains, and interference, leading to random delay and packet loss, severely affecting the stability of WNCSs. In the talk, Dr Wanchun will first introduce WNCS and then discuss the challenges and potential solutions of WNCSs.
